Thank you for visiting my fundraising page!

I’m fundraising for Epilepsy Ireland to support the 45,000 people living with epilepsy in Ireland.

Epilepsy is caused by a discharge of electrical energy in the brain, but the way this affects each person is unique. With your help, Epilepsy Ireland can provide support tailored to the needs of each person and family living with epilepsy.

Your support will ensure that people with epilepsy and their families receive the information, advice, and support they need through a network of 11 Community Resource Officers. You will ensure public awareness of epilepsy is improved and stigma and misunderstanding is alleviated. You will help fund vital research projects to find new ways to manage and treat epilepsy and reduce its impact on people’s lives.

I hope you can help me by making a donation. Simply click the Donate button above. All donations are processed securely and are received directly by Epilepsy Ireland.

My Updates

Hi, I'm Alison

Tuesday 11th Mar
HI Everyone,
I'm Alison. Thank you for supporting Epilepsy Ireland and my fundraising venture- the 24 hour squat challenge.
Epilepsy came in to my {brain) life four years ago following a brain infection (autoimmune encephalitis). I have 'refractory epilepsy'- this means that it hasn't fully resolved despite treatment with two or more anti-epilepsy drugs (AED's). I'm currently taking four different  AED's.
My epilepsy is 'focal' and referred to clinically as 'complex partial seizures'. It is called complex because it is 'complex' and difficult to exactly pin-point why it is occurring and thus, how to effectively treat it.
It is called 'partial' because my 'whole' body is not involved and and don't loose consciousness.
So, there is a lot to uncover with this type of epilepsy and therefore a lot of research is required. That's why Epilepsy Ireland (EI)  need our help.
EI support people and their families, work colleagues, teachers and SNA's to understand epilepsy. They also help to fund essential research.
I hate doing squats. This will be a challenge for me, but I will persist and with your support, achieve the small target set. Feel free to squat with me!

Thank you to my Sponsors
