Thank you for visiting my fundraising page!

This September, I'm walking and raising funds to support people living with epilepsy, and their families.

Epilepsy is characterised by seizures caused by bursts of electrical energy in the brain. But the way this affects each person is unique. With your help, Epilepsy Ireland can provide support tailored to the needs of each person and family living with epilepsy.

Your support will ensure that people with epilepsy and their families receive the information, advice, and support they need through a network of Community Resource Officers. You will ensure public awareness of epilepsy is improved and stigma and misunderstanding is alleviated. You will help fund vital research projects to find new ways to manage and treat epilepsy and reduce its impact on people’s lives.

I hope you can help me by making a donation. Simply click the Donate button. All donations are processed securely and are received directly by Epilepsy Ireland.

My Updates

Day Eighteen

Friday 18th Sep
Day 18. Just a short loop this evening but a quicker pace, keeping the miles ticking over.

Day Seventeen

Thursday 17th Sep
Day 17. Eventful walk tonight, I was too hydrated and got caught short so I needed to spend a penny in the local pub, thank you for letting me use your facilities and thank you Strava for showing it on the map, nothing's going to stop me completing this challenge.

Day Sixteen

Wednesday 16th Sep
Day 16. Another evening walk due to been busy at work, started off a little stiff in the legs especially my shin but as I went on it eased and I was able to finish no problem.

Day Fifteen

Tuesday 15th Sep
Day 15. We've reached the half way stage. Evening walk today, I think i prefer walking in the morning, something about leaving your house when it's bright out and returning when it's dark makes the walk feel much more longer than it is.

Day Fourteen

Monday 14th Sep
Day 14. Had to adjust my walk today, busy day in work so couldn't do my normal route so instead walked around the park while my son trained.

Day Thirteen

Sunday 13th Sep
Day 13. Incorporated a visit to my parents today.

Day Twelve

Saturday 12th Sep
Day 12. My body is beginning to realise it's working more than it normally does, blisters starting to form on my feet but we march on.

Day Eleven

Friday 11th Sep
Day 11. Just found out my work department will be doing a 4 week step challenge on behalf of Epilepsy Ireland and all donations received will be matched by the company, made my day.

Day Ten

Thursday 10th Sep
Day 10. Clocking up the miles now, this new route will put me ahead of my goal at the half way mark by about 2 days.

Day Nine

Wednesday 9th Sep
Day 9. Switched back to my normal route but seen as it was such a sunny morning I decided to keep walking, might stick to the route from now on.

Day Seven and Eight

Tuesday 8th Sep
Day 7. One week done, time to reverse the route tomorrow for a bit of variety.

Day 8. Reversed my route this morning then decided to walk on instead of closing the loop, I thought I created a bigger loop but it turns out it was the same distance as my normal one, so feeling a little perplexed today. Maybe I'll just stick to what I know and continue to clock up the miles.

Day Six

Sunday 6th Sep
Day 6. Beautiful Sunday for a walk.

Day 5

Saturday 5th Sep
Day 5. While my son trained i got in my steps.

Day Four

Friday 4th Sep
Day 4 done, weather is starting to change, much more windy today but we keep going.

Day Three

Thursday 3rd Sep
Day 3, so I was correct Strava gave me a more precise reading than my watch, so I'm back on track to hit my goal of 5k a day.

Day Two

Wednesday 2nd Sep
This morning I went for my walk by myself as Nikki was in work, slightly longer route trying to hit 5k, I've downloaded Strava for tomorrows walk as I don't think I'm getting an accurate distance reading on my fitbit, we shall see.

Day One

Tuesday 1st Sep
Myself and Nikki started off our challenge together today, the sun was out and it made for an enjoyable walk, we did a combined 6 miles.
