Walking 100 miles for my daughter 🩷
Saturday 14th Feb In March, I’m taking on the 100 Miles Walking Challenge to raise funds for Epilepsy Ireland.Epilepsy is characterised by a discharge of electrical energy in the brain but the way this affects each person is unique. With your help, Epilepsy Ireland can provide support tailored to the needs of each person and family living with epilepsy.
Your support will ensure that people with epilepsy and their families receive the information, advice and support they need through a network of 11 Community Resource Officers. You will ensure public awareness of epilepsy is improved and stigma and misunderstanding is alleviated. You will help fund vital research projects to find new ways to manage and treat epilepsy and reduce its impact on people’s lives.
My daughter was diagnosed with epilepsy at 9 years old. Her EEG shows three types of seizures affecting both sides of her brain. She is now 11 and we still haven’t found a medication that fully controls her seizures.
Watching your child struggle with something you can’t fix is one of the hardest things a parent can go through. Epilepsy doesn’t just affect the person diagnosed, it affects the whole family. Every day comes with worry, uncertainty and hope that the next treatment will finally be the one that works.
I’m walking 100 miles this March to raise awareness, to support vital services and to help fund research and support for families like ours.
Every step I take is for my daughter and for every child and family living with epilepsy.
