Thank you for visiting my fundraising page!

This September, I'm walking and raising funds to support people living with epilepsy, and their families.

Epilepsy is characterised by seizures caused by bursts of electrical energy in the brain. But the way this affects each person is unique. With your help, Epilepsy Ireland can provide support tailored to the needs of each person and family living with epilepsy.

Your support will ensure that people with epilepsy and their families receive the information, advice, and support they need through a network of Community Resource Officers. You will ensure public awareness of epilepsy is improved and stigma and misunderstanding is alleviated. You will help fund vital research projects to find new ways to manage and treat epilepsy and reduce its impact on people’s lives.

I hope you can help me by making a donation. Simply click the Donate button. All donations are processed securely and are received directly by Epilepsy Ireland.

Why I’m Walking 60 Miles for Epilepsy Ireland 💜

Saturday 8th Aug

In July 2025, my life changed in a way I never could have imagined.

I had a massive seizure that resulted in me dislocating my shoulder and breaking my arm. What followed was even more frightening — I had three further seizures in succession.

At the time, I had no idea that this would eventually lead to an epilepsy diagnosis.

After months of appointments, investigations and uncertainty, I was officially diagnosed with epilepsy in March 2026.

Getting that diagnosis was difficult. There is something incredibly unsettling about suddenly having to accept that your brain can do something completely outside of your control. It changed the way I looked at everyday things, and for a while, epilepsy felt like it had taken over my life.

But it has also taught me a lot.

With the help of medication and some amazing neurologists, my seizures are now under control. And as I write this, I am approaching six months seizure-free — something I am incredibly grateful for. ❤️

Six months might sound like just a number, but to me it represents so much more. It represents recovery, adapting to a completely unexpected diagnosis, and slowly getting some confidence back in my own body and my future.

The seizure also had a huge knock-on effect on my life. My injuries meant surgery, time away from the gym and a long period of trying to get back to feeling like myself again. Things that I had previously taken for granted suddenly weren’t quite so simple.

Now, rather than letting what happened define me, I want to do something positive with it.

I’m doing this because epilepsy affects far more people than I ever realised before I became one of them. A diagnosis doesn’t just affect the person having seizures — it affects their family, their friends, their independence, their confidence and so many aspects of everyday life.

Epilepsy Ireland provides vital support, information and advocacy for people living with epilepsy and their families. They also work to raise awareness and improve understanding of a condition that is still surrounded by so many misconceptions.

I know firsthand how terrifying a seizure can be. I also know how important it is to have good medical care, support and people who understand what you’re going through.

So this walk is about more than 60 miles for me.

It’s about taking back something that epilepsy took away from me.

It’s about celebrating how far I’ve come since that seizure in July 2025.

It’s about raising awareness of epilepsy.

And, most importantly, it’s about helping other people who are facing the same diagnosis feel a little less alone.

If you are able to donate, no matter how big or small, I would be incredibly grateful. Every donation will help support the amazing work Epilepsy Ireland does for people affected by epilepsy.

And if you can’t donate, simply sharing my fundraiser would mean just as much to me. 💜

Here’s to the next 60 miles, and hopefully many more seizure-free milestones along the way.
